“Sláinte” – health, is a toast rooted in Irish tradition. It embodies hospitality, friendship, and celebration, wishing prosperity and good fortune to all. The design incorporates motifs representative of Irish Celtic design to include: triskeles, labyrinths, spirals and stylised animals. These colors, embellished in gold and bronze, add a richness in keeping with Christian Celtic artwork of the middle ages.

Description

The square within a square composition of the design is contrasted by the circular overlapping shapes of the motifs housed within. The Celtic motifs with vibrant contrasting colours, outlined in gold, are set against an ivory background giving it a contemporary quality. These colours, embellished in gold and bronze, add a richness in keeping with Christian Celtic manuscript artwork of the middle ages. Celtic motifs are not only intricate art forms, but are also considered to contain symbols of a sacred knowledge. The Christian missionaries responsible for the creation of the medieval manuscripts incorporated into their ranks Celtic bards, poets and seers. These were crafts people initiated in a form of sacred geometry taught by the druids, the high priests from Ireland’s pagan world.
